Some big news from today's NLC meeting between FWSC and CETAG on Thursday, June 20, 2024. It's all about the ongoing back-and-forth between FWSC, GTEC, PRINCOF, and CETAG - lots of acronyms to keep track of! The National Labour Commission stepped in to address the issues that CETAG has been raising against FWSC and the gang.

So, what went down at the hearing? Well, it turns out that there've been some problems sticking to the Arbitral Awards given to CETAG members. These awards were supposed to tackle pay and working conditions but seem to have hit a snag due to alleged non-compliance by the bosses.

Here are the highlights from the NLC's ruling:

  • The Employer hasn't fully followed through on the Arbitral Awards.

  • The NLC wants those awards implemented as soon as possible.

  • They've even taken things up a notch by heading to the High Court. Serious stuff!

The next steps? Both sides are due in court on June 26, 2024. And then they've got another appointment with the NLC on June 27 for a progress report. Hopefully, all these meetings will help sort things out!

Amidst all this legal jargon, CETAG is being nudged to end their strike for now. It's supposed to smoothen out negotiations and show goodwill in resolving things peacefully.

Looking ahead, a virtual Council meeting is set for tomorrow at 2 p.m. This pow-wow will be all about planning what comes next and making sure CETAG has its say loud and clear.

But here's the scoop – despite all these discussions and legal back-and-forth, CETAG is still on strike. The struggle continues for them as they push for their rights.

Today was quite a showdown between CETAG and the bosses. With the NLC and High Court getting involved, it's all about making sure everyone plays fair and square. Keep an eye out for what happens next as these talks continue - fingers crossed for a resolution that works out well for everyone involved!
