WAEC Announces readiness for 2024 BECE, Cautions  Candidates Against Malpractices.

As the eagerly awaited BECE examination starts tomorrow if God willing, the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) has reduced the concerns of anxious students, parents, and educators by assuring them that every necessary precaution has been taken to ensure a seamless and successful conduct of the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in Ghana.

At a press briefing in Accra on Friday, July 5, 2024, John Kabi, WAEC's Head of Public Affairs, provided a reassuring update, confirming that the examination will commence on Monday, July 8, 2024, with the English Language paper and conclude on Monday, July 15, 2024, with the Arabic paper.

With a total of 569,095 candidates, comprising 282,648 males and 286,447 females, preparing to sit for the examination, WAEC has strategically deployed resources to ensure a smooth experience for all stakeholders. The examination will be administered in 2,123 centers across the country, with a team of 2,123 supervisors, 1,889 assistant supervisors, and 19,973 invigilators working tirelessly to ensure the integrity and success of the examination.

This press briefing has brought relief to the thousands of students, parents, and educators who have been eagerly awaiting news about the examination. With WAEC's assurance, the focus now shifts to the students, who are ready to demonstrate their knowledge and skills, marking a significant milestone in their academic journey.

As the examination commences on Monday, July 8, 2024, the nation comes together to wish these young minds the very best of luck, acknowledging their hard work and dedication. May their dreams and aspirations be one step closer to reality as they take this crucial step towards a brighter future.

While addressing the press, John Kabi expressed concern over cases of candidates writing telephone numbers or phrases such as 'call me,' 'help me,' or 'just call my mom' in their answer booklets. He emphasized that such actions constitute seeking external assistance and are punishable offences. Candidates are, therefore, advised to refrain from such malpractices, as they can lead to the cancellation of their entire examination.

Furthermore, Kabi warned invigilators against the usage of mobile phones and other electronic communication devices by candidates in the exam halls. Candidates found culpable of committing such offences will have their entire exams cancelled.

As the examination starts tomorrow, WAEC urges all stakeholders to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities that may compromise the integrity of the examination. With the necessary measures in place, WAEC is confident that the 2024 BECE will be a success.

Candidates, Remember!

- Refrain from writing telephone numbers or phrases soliciting help in your answer booklets.

- Avoid using mobile phones and other electronic communication devices in the exam halls.

- Ensure you follow all instructions from invigilators and supervisors.

- Remember, seeking external assistance is a punishable offence.

Parents and Guardians, Support Your Children!

- Encourage your children to stay focused and avoid malpractices.

- Remind them of the importance of hard work and integrity.

- Offer support and guidance throughout the examination period.

Together, Let's Ensure a Successful 2024 BECE!
