The Future of Teacher Education in Ghana: A Call to Action
The Teacher Trainees' Association of Ghana (TTAG) has announced its intention to embark on a peaceful protest nationwide in response to the ongoing strike action by the Colleges of Education Teachers Association (CETAG). This decision comes after numerous meetings and appeals to the government and CETAG to resolve the strike and address the pressing issues faced by teacher trainees.
As I sit down to write this article, my heart is heavy with concern for the future of teacher education in Ghana. The ongoing industrial strike action by the Colleges of Education Teachers Association (CETAG) has left thousands of teacher trainees stranded and uncertain about their future. The situation is dire, and it's time for us to take action.
I remember my uncle days as a teacher trainee, full of passion and enthusiasm for the profession. But today, that passion is dwindling, and the enthusiasm is fading away. The strike has not only affected the teacher trainees but also the entire education sector. The future of Ghana's education system is at stake, and we can't afford to sit back and watch.
The Teacher Trainees' Association of Ghana (TTAG) has been at the forefront of this struggle, fighting for the rights of teacher trainees. But despite numerous meetings and appeals, there has been no concrete progress towards resolving the strike action and addressing the pressing issues faced by teacher trainees. It's time for us to take a stand and demand a better future for teacher education in Ghana.
We owe it to ourselves, our students, and our country to take action. We can't afford to let the strike continue indefinitely, leaving our future in limbo. We must rise up and demand a better future for teacher education in Ghana.
