Trainee Teachers' Plea: A Call for Compensation

The Association of Teacher Trainees in Colleges of the Northern Sector (ATTRICONS) has made a heartfelt appeal to the Parliamentary Select Committee on Education, seeking compensation for trainees affected by the recent CETAG strike. This strike has left trainees across 46 public teacher training colleges facing significant losses - financial and academic.

The strike has resulted in trainees incurring substantial financial expenses, including accommodation, food, and transportation costs. Moreover, the strike has caused a significant loss of academic time, putting trainees behind schedule and jeopardizing their future careers. ATTRICONS humbly requests fair and reasonable compensation for these losses, including reimbursement for expenses incurred and academic time lost.

ATTRICONS is urging the Honorable House to take immediate action, ordering the government to provide the necessary compensation. Trainees have suffered enough; it's time for justice. The government must recognize the impact of the strike on these future educators and take responsibility for their well-being

The fate of Ghana's education system hangs in the balance. If trainee teachers are not supported, the consequences will be felt for generations to come.

Let's work together to ensure our future educators are supported, not hindered. Compensation is not only fair but essential for their well-being and success.

Behind every trainee teacher is a story of struggle, sacrifice, and dedication. They have invested their time, energy, and resources into becoming educators, only to have their dreams put on hold due to circumstances beyond their control. It's time to listen to their stories and act.

Share your thoughts. Should trainee teachers be compensated for losses incurred during the CETAG strike? Let's discuss. Together, we can make a difference and ensure a brighter future for Ghana's educators.
