CETAG Strike: National Executive Council( NEO) Suspends Council Meeting, Sends Representatives to MELR for Clarification

In a recent update, the National Executive Council (NEO) has announced the suspension of the council meeting previously scheduled for 19th August, 2024. This decision comes after careful consideration of comments and suggestions from Honorable members.


Instead, three representatives from NEO - the Acting National Secretary, National Trustee, and Accra CoE Local Chair - will attend a meeting with the Minister for MELR (Ministry of Education and Relation) to seek clarification on several pressing matters related to the ongoing strike.


A new council meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, 20th August 2024, with the exact time to be announced after tomorrow's meeting at MELR.


The following crucial matters will be discussed and clarified during the meeting.


1. Documentary evidence of assurances given by authorities

2. Evidence of migration progress and payment of July and August salaries, as well as all-year-round work compensation

3. Acceptance of traditional universities' nomenclature for migration

4. Roadmap for migration and payment of subsequent arrears and top-ups for BRA (Book and Research Allowance) for 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 academic years


The representatives will table all relevant questions from the previous council meeting, ensuring that members receive accurate and reliable information to inform their decision-making.


Council members are advised to remain calm as the representatives gather more information to facilitated a decisive decision on the ongoing strike.
