The government of Ghana has announced that Monday, 23rd September 2024, will be a public holiday. This is because Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Day, which falls on Saturday, 21st September 2024, is a statutory holiday.
Since this holiday lands on a weekend, the President of Ghana, following the law, has declared Monday as an additional public holiday. This decision was made to ensure that everyone can properly observe the day, honoring the memory of Ghana’s first president, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

The public is encouraged to observe this holiday across the country.
This announcement was officially made by the Minister for the Interior, Henry Quartey, on Thursday, 19th September 2024, in Accra.
