The Producer Price Review Committee (PPRC) has announced a big increase in the price of cocoa for the 2024/2025 season. The new price is now GH¢48,000 per tonne of cocoa. This is a major jump of 129% compared to the price from September 2023.
This means cocoa farmers in Ghana will now get more money for their crops. For each 64kg bag of cocoa, farmers will earn GH¢3,000. This change is effective from today, September 11, 2024.
This price increase is expected to help improve the lives of cocoa farmers, as they will receive higher payments for their hard work.
With this new price, it is hoped that more farmers will be encouraged to grow cocoa, leading to higher production and better earnings for the country.
This move is a positive step for Ghana's cocoa sector, which continues to play a crucial role in the global cocoa market.
