Absorption of Savannah College of Education as a Public Institution
The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has announced the absorption of Savannah College of Education, located in Daboya, into the public education system.
This means that the College will now be recognized as a public institution under government management.
Once the process is done, trainees at the school will start receiving allowance
The decision follows a thorough review of the college's infrastructure and other factors by a team from GTEC.

The Minister for Education approved this move as part of the government's plan to bring more private colleges into the public fold.
On Monday, October 28, 2024, a team from GTEC will visit the college to begin the formal process, including signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to finalize the transition.
Ghana currently has 46 Colleges of Education. However, Savannah College is expected to join the list, increasing the total number to 47 Colleges of Education in Ghana
This is an important step for Savannah College of Education, as it will now receive more support from the government, ensuring better resources and opportunities for both staff and students.
