For Level 400 students, the situation is different. These final-year students are expected to report earlier, on 8th January 2025, to their internship schools for their teaching practice.

Challenges Ahead: CETAG Strike

While the reopening date has been announced, one major challenge threatens the smooth running of academic activities the ongoing CETAG (College of Education Teachers Association of Ghana) strike.

CETAG has raised concerns over unresolved issues related to their conditions of service.

If the strike continues, it could disrupt teaching and learning activities, especially for Level 400 students, whose internship supervision depends on tutors. Without supervision, their teaching practice will face serious difficulties, potentially delaying assessments and certifications.

A CETAG representative noted, “We are yet to see significant action from the authorities regarding our demands. Until these issues are resolved, our members will not return to the classroom.”

This situation also creates uncertainty for freshers, continuing students, and parents, as they question whether academic work will commence as planned.

As colleges prepare to reopen, the CETAG strike remains a pressing issue. Stakeholders, including the government and CETAG, must work urgently to resolve these challenges.
